Sacramental Information

Preparation for the Sacrament of First Reconciliation (Rec) at IHM begins during Grade 2, prior to preparation for First Holy Communion. Students who do not attend IHM School or another Catholic school are required to be enrolled in CRE as part of their sacramental preparation.  The preparation program typically includes a Family Gathering and a Parent Gathering, which is usually held on a Tuesday evening. The celebration of the Sacrament of First Reconciliation is generally held on the first Friday evening in December, followed by a reception.

Preparation for the Sacrament of First Holy Communion (FHC) at IHM also takes place during Grade 2, following the celebration of First Reconciliation. The preparation program typically includes a Family Gathering, a Parent Gathering, a Song Practice, and a Rehearsal for the Celebration Day. The Sacrament of First Holy Communion is generally celebrated on the first Saturday in May, with students participating in one of two Masses based on their class assignment.
